about

After leaving the Dwight Twilley Band, Phil experimented with various musicians, producers, and bands. He recorded with The Plimsouls, 20/20, The Textones, Airtight aka Motion Pictures (who later became The Call) as well as with a few of his own hand-picked groups such as Phil Seymour & The Feel and other unnamed outfits. Among the producers that wanted to record Phil was Phil Spector.

Among the songs Phil sang with his own bands and as a guest were a few Supremes songs ("Love is Like an Itching in My Heart," "You Can't Hurry Love"), "Have I the Right" by The Honeycombs, "Now" by The Plimsouls, "I'm Down" and "Anytime At All" by The Beatles, and Jack Lee's "Stand Back and Take a Good Look." Some of these he also recorded at various sessions.

The tracks on this album consist of two sessions - one in London with Chris Spedding. The other other was at Warner Bros Music Studio where he was backed by Steve Allen and Ron Flynt of 20/20.

Also in this era Phil played drums on Moon Martin's debut album and 20/20's as well (the latter uncredited). He also sang live and recorded with Del Shannon around this time.

And then the right producer, Richard Prodolor, and record deal, Neil Bogart's Boardwalk Records, came along and Phil cut his first album and had a hit with "Precious to Me" - one of the first songs he ever wrote.
